Blue Marlin fishing off Mexico's Pacific coast is Mexico fishing at its best. Blue and black marlin are fairly common, and striped variety are regularly caught. Black marlin are the rarest of the marlins seen in the eastern Pacific. They are meaner and more aggressive than a Blue marlin of the same size and as such are the most prestigious to catch. Because of their ferocity, aggressiveness and persistence when hooked, the Black marlin will quite often fight to the death, sometimes resulting in either a lost fish or a strenuous, time-consuming hand-lining to the boat. Black marlin appear almost identical to Blue marlin in body structure. It's back however, is so much darker blue than a Blue marlin that it is considered to actually be black. |
